The Purpose of Communication

Communication: The concept of exchanging information between entities. Also, it is a passageway or opening between two locations.

Personally, I’m not such an ‘open book’. I find it really hard, at first, telling someone about my problems. So, I get burdened a lot of times and try to solve it on my own, most times in tears and prayer. However, when I tell someone and it gets passed on further, we all cooperate and things work out much easier for me as ‘a problem shared is a problem half solved’.

It also has a dual effect; psychologically and physically. Psychologically, the emotional burden gets lifted and it feels a whole lot easier to breathe. Physically, the work gets going with more help and I get better results. The advantages are there but taking the first step to communicate can be hard.

From the definition, it’s a passageway. The Bible says we should ask and we will receive (Matthew 7:7). Note the use of the word ASK not GRUMBLE, COMPLAIN or MURMUR. God is the ultimate provider. We are to simply ask and He will supply (Philippians 4:19). But so many times like the children of Israel in the wilderness, we complain and compare. We are to appreciate what others have and thank God for them for it is a blessing, not to get jealous. Ask according to His will (1John 5:14).

Even with people, when we ask for help, we will get a response; YES or NO. Appreciate the positive and even the negative response, don’t let it discourage you. I don’t think anyone would like to be with someone who’s always complaining about how hard things are or of how Mr. A is better than him/her. Communication also sustains hierarchy. Organizations are connected and wired through a series of communication within and outside them for successful operation.

However, we are to also give. You can give your time, treasure and talent. Givers truly never lack! When you begin to ask too much without giving back, you become a ‘parasite’ to people. That’s why we are to ‘give back to the society’. Even God loves a cheerful giver, and people too! (2Corinthians 9:7)

I encourage you reading this post to open the passageway of communication to God through prayer and to people through interaction; loving them by also giving back not just asking all the time.
