No More Space
Revelation 3:16
“All good is hard. All evil is easy. Dying, loving, cheating and mediocrity is easy. Stay away from easy.” (Scott Alexander)
Mediocrity: The quality of being average or ordinary.
In the movie, War Room, the old
lady, Miss Clara, had served the young lady, Elizabeth, with tea while trying
to help sell her house. Miss Clara had made hot tea for herself but gave
Elizabeth lukewarm tea. When Elizabeth drank it, she complained and was
irritated by it… Nobody likes lukewarm tea!
Also, one of the surest ways to
fail a job interview is to answer the question ‘What can you do?’ with ‘Anything’.
They need a professional. Mediocrity is a plague which needs to be eradicated
with effort and consistency.
Know your strengths and
weaknesses. Focus on developing your strengths to overshadow your weaknesses
probably from a level 6 to a 9 rather than your weakness from a 3 to a 5. This
will only result in mediocrity and the world is already full of it.
Did you know that of the world’s
7.4billion population, only 1% control 50% of the world’s wealth? What about
the remaining 99%? Over 3 billion (almost half) live on less than $2.50 a day.
The statistics are mind-bubbling!
However, it also reveals there is so much space at the top. Even in our
Christian walk with God, only a few dare to climb up the mountain. Even fewer
dare to make it to the top where God dwells e.g. Moses. That leaves a whole
bunch of people at the bottom. Worse still, some aren’t even bothered about it.
The Bible says we are to resist (create
no space/room for) the devil and he will flee (James 4:7). Resist mediocrity (and
anything else) and it will flee. Don’t be spit out. God’s plan for you is to prosper and
be excellent; outstanding!
“Let others lead small lives, but not you. Let others argue over small things, but not you. Let others cry over small hurts, but not you. Let others leave their future in someone else's hands, but not you.” (Jim Rohn)
