Love 'em Up





While walking down to the prayer spot, Ozi wondered how I could be so nonchalant about the sad news she’d just shared with me.

Although I was in enough physical pain, I felt really bad and uncomfortable but I just didn't feel like showing it was going to change the fact that our tight sister had just left ‘the fold’. But a part of me just wanted to let her be…

The prayer session that night was quite unusual. The sister who led the prayers began to tell us of God’s love and that it was a time for us to thank Him and talk to Him… like a one-on-one love kinda talk.

I felt really awful about my behavior when I heard it clearly from God to ‘Love them up’.

Yes, I know, every one of us is going through our processes in life and God has promised to be there each step of the way. But there are times when you feel like you’re stuck and you really need help like crazy.

Prayer sessions begin in your head and you’re not sure who to ask sometimes because you feel like God isn't saying anything and some people may go all out ‘spiritual’ on you.

Some people are in that state. Don’t judge them for acting weirdly, just love them!

Naturally, like a chick hatching from its egg, they’ll respond and open up (even you too). Love casts out fear (1 John 4:18) and is universally appreciated though some people take more time to respond and some others respond quite weirdly.

Everyone needs and is worthy of love. God loves every one of us; He put us in families and He sacrificed every other fun thing just to make and watch over you.

I mean, He’s G-O-D. He could've used the 9 months and all the years to create universes (It took Him 1 week to make Earth), galaxies, play some good golf, have some heavenly tea… stuff like that… maybe even head to the Angel Spa to relax a bit.

If He has committed and invested so much time, attention, energy and resources on us, then who are we to hold back?

I've been praying this season to learn to love God anew and stay ‘prayed up’ in His Presence. However, I feel He also wants us to all ‘love people up’…

Every single one of them!

    It’s a love for the Almighty that truly allows us to love other people. If we love like He wants us to, nobody gets killed, nobody gets hurt, and families stay together. That’s the bonus when we allow God’s love to guide our thoughts and actions every day—even when we suffer disappointments along the way.

While We're Waiting

James 5:7-8  “Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains.  You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.”     Time after time, school goes on a really long break and I have to travel back home. I end up staying at for months and I'm always complaining of the same old thing that plagues most of us: BOREDOM!       I have nothing to do for fun, hardly any friends around and there's always a chore to do which all bores me to tears.      However, someone said something in a Church Class that caught my attention. He said "We're bored because we don't want to think and work. We can't complain of boredom when we're busy".

When God Seems Distant

           Some days, you feel like you're the one doing all the talking. It's like you woke up and the lights just went off. Its like God's gone on vacation!      I've felt like that too and it can really be frustrating. But while reading The Purpose Driven Life, a powerful book by Rick Warren, I got to see that this is actually a very important phase in our lives.      Just like Job's experience in the Bible, God seemed distant and didn't speak until 38 chapters later. But God never abandoned him nor left him to die of his sufferings. And despite all that Job went through, he never gave up on God.      This time is usually a period of testing to see just how much you can hold on to God when He keeps silent in your life. He really wants to show the accuser just how faithful a child He has that won't give up no matter what.
